Judy van Gelderen invited to join AWIC 2016 – Urban Sustainability & Water Management Program in China

Judy has been invited to take part in the Australian delegation to China in April as part of the Urban Sustainability and Water Management program which will promote innovative Australian solutions in planning, design, systems and technologies, as well as new opportunities resulting from The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA).

Judy van Gelderen, Director of KI Studio is very excited with this trip as she has extensive experience from working in Hangzhou, and other parts of China on water planning and design projects, ranging from open space planning for new towns to large scale parks/public domain waterfronts, green roofs, infrastructure, to eco-tourism projects.

With her extensive experience and research in the field of Water Sensitive Design, along with a background involvement in the CBC Canberra-Hangzhou, China, committee to promote business and co-operation between the two cities, early 2000s; as well as her Winston Churchill Fellowship [ 2000 ] to research sustainable water projects in Europe and Israel, and her Doctorate in Environmental Design ( focussing on water planning, design, WSUD) 2007, UC, Judy will bring a unique perspective to the Mission.

Australia Week China delegates will gain a comprehensive understanding of opportunities under China’s ‘sponge cities’ initiative, and broader themes of urban connectivity, transportation and smart cities in Xiamen, Jiaxing, Suzhou and Shanghai.
