LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

Nature and people combined offer great possibilities – we believe in their combined strength. To do this we let nature “breath”, express itself, through creating a broad framework in which humans can interplay, be absorbed, and stimulated. The framework of ecology, human needs, the historic story/cultural context, the intrinsic landscape character and sustainability provides the backbone for our designs.

Our projects cover a range of cultures, climates, countries and historical and cultural backgrounds and vary considerably in size from master planning 1000ha of Western Sydney Regional Park, to Lane Cove Tunnel landscape, to the Marrickville Water Play Park.

  • Roads, railways, bridges, and tunnels are the arteries of our cities and landscape. We are highly experienced in blending infrastructure with landscape and built form. We view the road, railway, tunnel, bridges as structures in a larger setting, and consider them a whole.

The earth can be shaped creatively to integrate built form elements with the landscape and also reduce visual impacts. Streetscape elements of noise walls, safety screens, ramps, retaining walls, furniture, bus shelters, sustainable water and greening approaches are integrally designed at KI Studio to enhance our streetscapes, railway and road corridors.

  • A major challenge facing environmental designers, including landscape architects today is the creation of sustainable developments, culturally, environmentally and economically. As our society comes to grip with the potential issues and costs confronting us environmentally there is a stronger need to develop responsive solutions to these problems. Sensitive water planning and design is a critical key in the creation of sustainable environments and landscapes as a measure to assist in arresting climate change on a global scale.

KI Studio has a vast experience working on the benefits of water conservation, sensitive planning and design with water, protection and enhancement of natural ecosystems, cleaning of rainwater and water recycling for irrigation, aesthetic appeal and water play.

  • Projects span almost 30 years, with experience gained from all scales including hospitals, medium density housing, aged living, sports complexes, primary and pre schools, to private gardens. The smaller the place, the more challenging the design.

Outcomes express flowing integration between internal and external spaces- this requires fusion between architect and landscape architect.
