Key challenges:
Making an arched structure perform effectively on a curved horizontal alignment. The simple solution of a complex geometrical layout for this structure enabled the opportunity for a more appealing bridge design, while maintaining competitive construction costs. The structure’s layout follows the curved road alignment above while keeping the shape of the main arch in a “normal” position. The overall design reflects the tradition of arched structures within the region and provides a visually more transparent approach to this type of structure.
