GLENFIELD TO LEPPINGTON RAIL LINE CREEK RESTORATION
client John Holland Group for TCA
Key challenges:
Sensitively responding to the narrow 40m corridor was a challenge for the Mainline design. Close collaboration with the engineers created holistic, sensitive water design outcomes that reflect a “soft engineered” approach, compared to the previous formal gabion basket/riprap and straight swale options. Fish passages and animal pole crossings were also included and all drainage/creek crossings are supported with plantings and treatments to provide ecological refuges . The site photos reflect early works, before wetland and other planting works. Careful site attention was given to maximise retention of existing vegetation.
