Glenfield to Leppington Rail Line
client John Holland Group for TCA
Key challenges:
Project wide urban and landscape design concepts and documentation for the integration of 11km of railway track, with 15 bridges and associated roads and stabling yard into the broader landscape; and public domain design for the new stations of Leppington and Edmondson Park within the planning development of the future two town centres. The corridor landscape design responds to the diverse ecological landscape and promotes water sensitive design and innovative, construction initiatives for steep batters.
A key initiative of the project is the Integrated Art & Heritage Strategy – a culmination of integrating built form elements, landscape design initiatives, ecology, art, architecture and heritage into a seamless whole, and conveys the history and transformation of the Western Growth Centre in a contemporary design to enhance the civic character of the station’s precinct.
