Within tight corridor constraints, sensitive water design elements were incorporated to enhance blue-green systems to improve bio-diversity & water quality and to also provide landscape amenity for cyclists and pedestrians. Concepts for integrating water sensitive design were explored early in the road corridor planning, and the resulting vegetated and rock mulched swales, infiltration areas and water quality control ponds with macrophyte zones demonstrate green infrastructure principles that reflect practical, innovative solutions.
