Key challenges:
Located within a residential area, the design solution for this tunnel portal contributed to the reduction of sound emissions and air pollution in the adjacent areas, while reducing overall running costs of the mechanical and lighting systems. Construction costs were also reduced through this approach which presented an appealing solution with respect to the urban fabric of the precinct, hence gaining broad acceptance from the community.
