Yandhai Pedestrian Bridge in Nepean

A great day at the opening of the Yandhai* Bridge, Australia’s new longest single span shared user path bridge. Present for the opening were the aboriginal elders Uncle Greg Simms and Uncle Wes, the honourable Stuart Ayres, Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Senator Marise Paine, Mayor Ross Fowler and more than 5,000 community members. It was fantastic to see the interest and support given to this project by the community. A great achievement when local and state government (Penrith Council and Roads and Maritime Services) work together.
* The word ‘Yandhai’ used to describe the river, means walking in the path of past and present, and is reflective of story including the past use of the river by the Darug yura (person).
